R. Aaron Hargis

R. Aaron Hargis, who is originally from Columbia, Missouri, received his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri in 1999 and a J.D. from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 2003.  Aaron is admitted to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas and is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.   

Aaron has extensive experience in the Criminal Justice field.  During his undergraduate study he worked as an intern for the Springfield Police Department gaining a variety of experience from helping to train cadets at the academy to spending hundreds of hours working in both the patrol and detective divisions.  Additionally, in 2001 Aaron spent three months clerking in the general crimes division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.  There Aaron coordinated with Federal Agents and drafted indictments for Federal Prosecutors.From those experiences Aaron has gained a unique perspective in that he has seen the inner workings of the Criminal Justice system from all sides including the police and prosecutors and now in his daily practice of criminal defense.In 2003 Aaron, immediately upon passing the Missouri Bar Examination, started a law practice in Kansas City with a fellow classmate that focused on criminal defense. 

After two years his partner moved his family to St. Louis and Aaron continued as a sole practitioner until 2008 when he joined forces with the law firm of Accurso & Lett, LLC.Aaron’s experience ranges from the handling of misdemeanor and felony cases in Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass and Boone County Missouri as well as in Johnson, Wyandotte and Leavenworth County, Kansas where he has been very successful in keeping client’s records clean and out of jail.  He also has experience handling matters relating to domestic, personal injury, small business and more recently bankruptcy and the defense of debtors against unscrupulous collection agencies.
